Evanston is a city located on the shores of Lake Michigan, United States, bordering Chicago just south. The city was founded in 1836 and 2000, its population was 74,239.

After being elected to the founding of Northwestern University, the area was renamed Evanston after the university's founder, John Evans.

Up to now, the city has established many colleges and organisations such as Rotary International and United Methodist Church. It is also the seat of "Woman's Christian Temperance Union", and  "National Merit Scholarship Corporation ".

Some of the people born in the city include William Petersen (lead actor in the film CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), Charlton Heston and Edmund Phelps (Nobel laureate Economics 2006).
